Their siege units are generally lacking, with fully upgraded Bombard Cannons being their only viable option. Their infantry and cavalry both lack Blast Furnace, and the former lack Gambesons, while the latter are especially shallow, with other upgrades such as Paladin and Hussar missing. While the Vietnamese are a strong archer civilization, they are not without weaknesses. Their economy is decent, saving a lot of wood early on, and Paper Money functioning as a potentially powerful late-game option. The defensive structures are overall solid in spite of the lack of Masonry and Architecture. Their Monks rank average as well, though the lack of Redemption is a notable blow. Their navy is fair, but the Fast Fire Ship and Shipwright are missing. Their Battle Elephants get additional hit points from Chatras and therefore have incredible bulk. Additionally, their unique unit and team bonus are both foot archers, making the Vietnamese able to pick from a wide variety of different units there, though the units overlap in their strengths.
